The account number is six digits long, and no one has ever requested it. The identification number (instead of the member number) is the 9-digit CAR/DPI number that you would use to add your co-writer.

Your PRO can provide you with your PI/CAR number by logging into your account, calling your PROF or performing a search in the public repertory on both AS CAP and BMI. The IPI/CAW will appear next to your name if you do a search for “your name?

If you don’t have your BMI contract or a recent BMI royalty statement, please contact your local BMI Creative department and request your account number.

A unique, worldwide identification number, usually 9–11 digits long, known as an Interested Party Information (DPI) number is used. APIs are given to songwriters, composers, and music publishers who own the rights to music.

Your PI number is available in ASAP, BMI, SESAC, and any other Pro’s repertoires. They may be discovered by conducting a name search on their websites for their respective repertoires.
